Tips & Tricks

What kind of pictures make good Monster Clings?
Almost anything can be made into a Monster Cling! Kids, sports, pets, your favorite sunset, sweet sixteens, graduations, boyfriends, girlfriends, any friends, team sports photos, flowers, cars, animals, stars and stripes, water themes. The list goes on and on.

You can also combine multiple pictures into a theme. Cling an entire room with a theme, such as a water theme for a bathroom, floral themes, or an evening sky with stars for a bedroom ceiling. And rather than going through the hassle of stenciling or wallpapering, get multiple images and stick them on the wall where they look great! If you can think of it, it can probably be a Monster Cling.

Where's the best place to put Monster Clings?
You can hang Monster Clings on nearly any indoor (not outdoor) flat clean surface. This could include bedrooms, bathrooms, recreation rooms, garage walls, college dorm rooms, you name it. Do not hang them outdoors, or on a non-flat surface if you want your Monster Cling to last. A huge football helmet on the side of your RV might look cool, but it won't stay forever.

Any tips for making good Monster Clings?
A couple of helpful tips. First, you need a high quality image. Basically you need a digital camera taking high quality, high resolution pictures. A picture right from the camera in a .jpeg or .tiff file is fine.

Double check to make sure your picture isn't blurry, because if it's blurry on your camera or on your computer screen, it'll be blurry as a Monster Cling.

The best Monster Clings usually come from a vertical (portrait) full-body shot where the image is at least 50% of the entire size of the picture. Try not to crop the subject's head, hands or feet. Try to take the picture of the subject at their eye level (lower for little kids and pets, higher for adults).

It's also helpful to have contrast in the picture, either a darker image with a lighter background or a lighter image with a darker background. If you have a light wall, a darker image will show up better.

For Advanced Users:
If importing a photo, import it at full resolution and save the file at a minimum of 300 dpi. We can also work from a high-resolution PDF. If working from a design program like In-Design or Quark, package the file for commercial print and upload the file that creates.

Should I have the image cut out, or should I put the entire Monster Cling on the wall?
That depends. It's personal preference of course, but typically, when Monster Clings are of a single subject, having that custom cut on the wall provides more contrast and looks very cool. If Monster Clings are a group picture, or a picture with a lot of background that you like, perhaps a team photo or a sunset, you'd put the entire Monster Cling on your wall.
